Hallo beste mensen,

There once was a beetle

who went for a walk

Ev’ry day at a quarter to nine

He’d study the sky

with his beady black eye

To see if the weather was fine

And if it were wet

his umbrella he’d get

Unfirl it and twirl it with glee

Now isn’t this nice

 what a pleasing device

Tralala how delightful, said he.

One day he was walking

not far from his home

When a tragedy nearly occured

For out of the sky with a hideous cry

Appeared an enormous fat bird.

Mr. Beetle was small

Only half an inch tall

But his brain was remarkably stout

------

------

With my brolly I’ll fetch you a clout.

Alvast heel erg bedankt!

Only just seen this. Better late than never I suppose.

The two lines as I remember being taught by my mother (in England) are:

"Get along, or my word,

you vulgar great bird"

hope we you look back and see this ten years after asking the question.

maybe you already know the words by now.
